Alaia & Paipo Boards – Traditional Hawaiian Surfing
Alaia and Paipo boards are traditional Hawaiian surfboards, handcrafted from solid wood and rooted in the ancient practices of wave riding in Hawai‘i.
Alaia boards are long, thin, and finless, typically made from native woods like koa or ulu. Ridden with skill and balance, they glide smoothly across the wave face, allowing surfers to connect with the ocean in its purest form.
Paipo boards are shorter and used primarily for body surfing. Fast, fun, and highly maneuverable, they offer a close-to-the-water ride that captures the joy and simplicity of traditional Hawaiian surf culture.
Both boards reflect a deep respect for craftsmanship, nature, and the ocean.
Handmade by a local family on Kaua'i using Kaua'i materials.
The LLoyd ohana takes a lot of pride in each piece that they make. they work with the best partners and have the best community that supports it. Each board they procure, harvest, mill and shape on the island of Kaua'i, in a home made shaping room on wheels. they prototype and test their boards in the waters close to where they're grown and believe them when they tell you, each board has it's own story. If Hawai'i holds a special place in your heart, like it does in ours, these boards are for you.
